Jihad declared on Cadbury after Pork DNA found in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysian Muslims have called for a holy war against the confectionery giant Cadbury – after pork DNA was found in some of its products.
A group of more than 20 Malay-Muslim organisations say they want to declare jihad against the chocolate maker after two batches of chocolate products were recalled.
The company has said that it was informed that samples of its Cadbury Dairy Milk Hazelnut and Cadbury Dairy Milk Roast Almond had ‘tested positive for traces of porcine DNA’.
According to Malaymailonline, a news conference was held in Kuala Lumpur where the groups claimed Cadbury had ‘crossed the line’ and that quick action was now needed.
The website quotes one of the group presidents, Ustaz Masridzi Sat, as blaming social ills in Malaysia on Muslims eating food that was not halal.
He told the news conference: ‘Because the person eats pork it is difficult to guide him to the right path.
‘When the day of judgment comes, that person will be wearing a pig-face because of what he has eaten.
‘We need to unite, we must declare jihad.’
One group chief, Abu Bakar Yahya, claimed the pork traces were part of a wider attempt to ‘weaken’ the faith.
Another called for a nationwide boycott on the Cadbury’s products saying its factories should be ‘shut down immediately’, Malaymailonline reports.

تھائی لینڈ کی سابق وزیراعظم ینگ لَک شِناواترا اور ان کے خاندان کے افراد کو گرفتار کر لیا گیا ہے۔ ایک تھائی آرمی افسر کا نیوز ایجنسی روئٹرز سے گفتگو کرتے ہوئے کہنا تھا کہ سابق خاتون وزیراعظم کی بہن اور بہنوئی کو بھی حراست میں لے لیا گیا ہے۔ میڈیا اطلاعات کے مطابق سابق وزیراعظم کو ان کے گھر پر نظر بند کیا گیا ہے۔ قبل ازیں تھائی لینڈ کی فوج نے ملک کی 155 نامور شخصیات کے بیرون ملک جانے پر پابندی عائد کر دی تھی۔ ان میں سابق وزیر اعظم ینگ لَک شِناواترا، اُن کے کئی رشتہ دار اور معزول حکومت کے متعدد سیاسی لیڈر شامل ہیں۔ فوج کی طرف سے ان افراد پر سفری پابندی کا یہ اعلان آج ملک میں فوجی بغاوت کے سرکاری اعلان کے ایک روز بعد کیا گیا۔ ٹیلی وژن پر نشر ہونے والے فوج کے ایک بیان میں کہا گیا تھا کہ یہ فیصلہ ملک میں امن کی صورتحال برقرار رکھنے اور تنازعات کے حل کے لیے کیا گیا ہے۔

پاکستانی فوج نے شمالی وزیرستان میں زمینی کارروائی کا آغاز کر دیا

مختلف مراحل میں ہونے والے مذاکرات کی ناکامی کے بعد پاکستانی فوج نے افغان سرحد کے قریب واقع شمالی وزیرستان میں طالبان عسکریت پسندوں کے خلاف پہلی بڑی زمینی کارروائی کا آغاز کر دیا ہے۔

اس علاقے میں اعلیٰ حکومتی اہلکار سراج احمد نے نیوز ایجنسی روئٹرز سے ٹیلفونک گفتگو کرتے ہوئے بتایا ہے کہ شمالی وزیرستان کے قریب ماچس کیمپ کو نشانہ بنایا گیا ہے۔ یہ کیمپ ابتدائی طور پر افغان مہاجرین کے لیے بنایا گیا تھا لیکن اب اسے ’مقامی اور غیرملکی عسکریت پسندوں‘ کا گڑھ تصور کیا جاتا ہے۔ مقامی رہائشیوں کا کہنا تھا کہ پاکستانی فوج کے گن شپ ہیلی کاپٹروں نے مختلف مکانات کو نشانہ بنایا جبکہ زمینی فوج نے ماچس کیمپ کا محاصرہ کر رکھا تھا۔

ڈرونز کا استعمال

اس آپریشن سے پہلے پاکستان کی طرف سے اس علاقے کی ڈرون طیاروں کے ذریعے نگرانی کی گئی۔ ایسا پہلی مرتبہ ہوا ہے کہ پاکستان کی طرف سے بغیر پائلٹ کے پرواز کرنے والے ڈرونز کا استعمال کیا گیا ہے۔ تاہم یہ واضح نہیں ہے کہ نگرانی کرنے والے یہ ڈرون طیارے پاکستان کے اپنے تیار کردہ ہیں یا کسی دوسرے ملک کے۔

خبررساں ادارے روئٹرز کے مطابق طالبان کے مسئلے سے نمٹنے کے لیے ملکی فوج اور وزیراعظم نواز شریف کے مابین اختلافات پائے جاتے ہیں۔ وزیراعظم نواز شریف مذاکرات کے حامی ہیں جبکہ ملک کی طاقتور فوج ایک بڑا ملٹری آپریشن کرنا چاہتی ہے۔

سراج احمد کا کہنا تھا کہ حکومت کی طرف سے کل ہی لوگوں کو یہ علاقہ چھوڑ دینے کا حکم دے دیا گیا تھا، ’’آج صبح ٹینک ماچس کیمپ کے علاقے میں داخل ہو گئے تھے اور ہیلی کاپٹروں نے بمباری کرتے ہوئے گھر مسمار کرنا شروع کر دیے تھے۔‘‘

مشکل ترین لڑائی

پاکستانی حکومت نے سن 2007ء میں عسکریت پسندوں کے ساتھ اس علاقے میں جارحیت نہ کرنے کا ایک غیرسرکاری معاہدہ کیا تھا اور تب سے اس علاقے میں کوئی زمینی کارروائی نہیں کی گئی ہے۔ گزشتہ مہینوں میں پاکستان آرمی متعدد مرتبہ اس علاقے میں جیٹ طیاروں کے ذریعے بمباری کر چکی ہے۔ گزشتہ روز بھی پاکستانی فضائیہ نے عسکریت پسندوں کے متعدد ٹھکانوں کو نشانہ بنایا تھا، جس کے نتیجے میں درجنوں عسکریت پسندوں کی ہلاکت کا دعویٰ کیا گیا تھا۔

گزشتہ روز پاکستان آرمی نے میر علی کے علاقے میں دو طرفہ لڑائی کے دوران اپنے ایک افسر کی ہلاکت کی بھی تصدیق کی تھی۔ پاکستان کے ایک سینیئر فوجی اہکار کا کہنا تھا، ’’شروع کی گئی کارروائی گزشتہ کئی برسوں کی مشکل ترین جنگ ثابت ہو سکتی ہے۔‘‘

Images of a young female OFW with severe burns to her back after allegedly having boiling water poured on her by her employer has shocked the Filipino community in the Kingdom.
Her case was brought to the attention of both the Philippine Embassy and the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) with a request to report the incident to police authorities and the Saudi Foreign Ministry.
One of her relatives, who introduced himself as “Talib,” told Arab News that the victim arrived in Riyadh only two months ago to work as a domestic helper, but apparently faced communication problems with her employer since she can neither understand Arabic nor English.
He said her employer began beating her and eventually attacked her with boiling water.
Talib said the victim was not immediately brought to a clinic by her employer. It was at the clinic where she managed to contact her relatives.
A message from the victim’s cousin in Riyadh provided details into the incident in Tagalog on Facebook.
“This is my cousin, who works as domestic helper in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Her female Saudi employer poured boiling water on her. She has only been in Riyadh for two months. She was beaten up within five days of her arrival by her male employer and was sometimes deprived of food.”
“She was only taken to the hospital six hours after boiling water was poured on her. She was then taken home to continue working despite her extensive injuries,” she said.
The same images were posted on social media network on Saturday.
Within a few minutes, the news had gone viral on social media sites with sympathetic comments.
“Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah would not allow this to happen in his country,” said an OFW based in the US.
She is now under the embassy’s custody, according to officials.
“We will request immediate police and medical intervention,” said an embassy official.

Man accused of selling dog meat

Riyadh police have arrested an expatriate man for allegedly selling dog meat from his home in Riyadh’s Monsiah district.
A Saudi citizen, quoted by local media, had tipped off the police about the Filipino expatriate selling meat, and claimed it was from a dog. The citizen had become suspicious because the expatriate did not work for a slaughterhouse.
The report, which did not reveal the nationality of the suspect, further alleges that a slaughterhouse body had confirmed the meat comes from a dog.
A former work colleague of the arrested man, who did not reveal his name, posted a comment on Facebook: “I know this guy from way back ... He was my office mate. He is a civil engineer, like me. I feel sad about the arrest.”
In a telephone interview later with Arab News, he said the suspect has been working for seven years as a civil engineer in the country, and must have been aware of the prohibition on selling dog meat. He surmised that the man must have tried to supplement his income by selling meat, such as fish and beef, in his free time.
Another man contacted by Arab News, who only wanted to be known as Rayan, said he met the suspect in jail.
Rayan said the man was planning to leave for the Philippines later this month and claimed he was innocent. The suspect claimed the Saudi citizen had asked him in Arabic about the meat. However, when he took time to respond because he did not understand Arabic, the citizen claimed it was dog meat, said Rayan, quoting the suspect.
Rayan said he did not believe the suspect sold dog meat. “I doubt it because as far as I know no one sells that kind of meat in Saudi Arabia.”
